Since 2015, the American River Parkway Foundation (ARPF) has partnered with Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) to bring children in grades 4-7 to the River Bend Outdoor Education Site for STEM lessons. While at the River Bend site, students engage in outdoor activities like a nature hike, a scavenger hunt to identify living and non living organisms, an engineering lesson on creating a water ferry, and a lesson on invertebrates in the American River. A majority of the students (81%) who attend these STEM lessons are socio-economically disadvantaged. Students attend for free from a Title 1 school. Other schools are provided a subsidy to attend.
Our goal for the 2021-2022 school is year is to serve an additional 1,500 students. To do this, we need to raise over $40,000 to cover the cost of over 25 classes to attend. With your support, we can achieve this goal!
